A series of UIL (University Interscholastic League) academic meets has taken place over the course of the last few months hosted by Sharyland High School (November 4, 2017), Weslaco East High School (December 2, 2017), and at McAllen High School (January 13, 2018).

Typically, competitions begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at approximately 2:00 p.m. School districts from across the RGV participate. Regional competitions are usually populated by over 600 students, thereby giving students from across different schools the opportunity to interact in their mutual passion for their respective events. But at their core, UIL invitationals are a means by which  students can hone in on their academic abilities before the entrance competition to state in March of 2018.
