The BPA Regionals took place on January 10th and 11th, 2019 at South Texas College. Students worked hard since last semester to perform well for this competition and hopefully advance to the state competition in March, taking place in Dallas, Texas.

Below are this year’s state qualifiers:

We asked some students about their BPA experience:

Nora Mendoza, 9th Grade, State Qualifier, 1st Place

Competition: Business Law and Ethics

Q: How did you prepare for your event?

“It was really broad Business Law and Ethics, Mrs. Pratt gave me a book, so I read some of it and I did a lot of quizlets.”

Q: Are you excited for state? How are you preparing for it?

“Yeah, I haven’t really done anything, but you know, do more quizlets and read more of the book and we’ll see what happens.”

Q: How was regionals for you? How was the competition? How did you like everything?

“It was fine, but there was one point where we had our books and the teacher he was like ‘you guys can’t use your books’ and then one of the competitors told him we could use our books. It was pretty fun because after the event I just chilled.”

Q: How do you feel about placing first in your competition?

“I’d gotten out of the testing room and I was like ‘Nora, you failed’, I had no expectations. On my way back, on the bus, I got a remind from Mrs. Sarabia and it was ‘Congratulations State Qualifier!’ and I was like ‘Typo, *State Qualifiers’ and I asked ‘really?’ and she said yes.”
