Black Wealth Summit Comes to TCHS!

[APRIL 29, 2022] On Saturday, April 30, 2022, The African American Cultural Collaborative of Mercer County, Operation Rebuild Trenton and the Trenton Area NAACP have joined forces to present: The Legacy of Black Wall Street - Black Wealth Summit - Closing the Racial Wealth Gap here at TCHS!


The program order is as follows:

10:00am - 11:00am Doors Open/Intro/Welcome

Guests have time to arrive and walk-through time down the hallway of presentations by TCHS and TRIO Upward Bound students to experience the economic achievements of African Americans in the Greenwood District of Tulsa Oklahoma from its establishment in 1906 to its race riot massacre in 1921. Also, to visit and shop with Black owned businesses from the Greater Trenton area at our Buy Black Your Community Marketplace in the gymnasium.


11:00am - 11:45am The Legacy of Black Wall Street [Past]

High School students will explore the events of how the Greenwood District of Tulsa, OK, affectionately known as Black Wall Street, quickly became the most prosperous African American community in the nation beginning with its establishment in 1906 to the 1921 race massacre. Further explaining the origin of red lining and how urban renewal, eminent domain, and beyond has historically disenfranchised African American communities across the US over the past century.

11:45am - 12:30pm Recognizing Economic Disparities and Generational Curses [Present]

This segment will focus on economic inequities, legislation and policies that redline African American communities. Also, how to identify and break those unhealthy habits that may have been unknowingly passed down that could be, or is, holding us back from achieving financial freedom. Teaching Black people to organize and collaborate with legislators to repeal and reform laws that prohibit the success of Black communities and families.

12:30pm - 1:30pm Networking Lunch Hour

Lunch is sponsored by The Falls Banquet Hall by EventRoostr and located in the cafeteria along with information vendors; business consultants, entrepreneurship programs, real estate consultants, and more.


1:30pm - 2:30pm Establishing Black Prosperity [Future]

A conversation about how African Americans can build, preserve, and pass on wealth to the next generation by focusing on resources, tools and knowledge that grows wealth; particularly investments and assets that can be passed down. Furthermore, how the community, through urban planning and collectively working together, can rebuild the community’s economy. Not only to provide security and create a legacy within your family, but to ensure that prosperity continues in every Black community for generations to come by circulating the dollar and other resources longer.

11:00am-3:00pm Black Renaissance Youth Vision Board Party

[Simultaneous to morning segments] Children are invited to the cafeteria for our Youth Vision Board Party where children will participate in an arts and crafts project. Our hostess, Kisa, will present the Legacy of Black Wall Street and teach the children how to make their own vision boards using historical facts and photos they can piece together on their boards to take home. Inspiring young historians, economists, entrepreneurs and educators!


11:00am - 4:00pm Buy Black Your Community Marketplace

Visit and shop with Black owned businesses from the Greater Trenton area at our Buy Black Your Community Marketplace hosted by Positive Black Images, located in the gymnasium. Actively practice circulating the dollar in our African American Communities to achieve ethnic economic prosperity to rebuild wealth in our communities.
